How do VoIP phones work? Can I still call a normal landline?

With VoIP, voice traffic is converted into data packets and then transmitted over, either the public or a private network. You can still use VoIP phones to call a landline or mobile as the data packets will be converted to a normal telephone signal before they get to their destination.

Does it work on my pre-existing internet connection?

It may work, however it is strongly recommended  to use Datel DSL. If you choose to use Datel DSL then you will have that connection set up in your office.

What benefits are there to using Datel DSL?

Depending on the number of people in your organisations, you will have a separate voice and data network, this will allow quality to not be compromised.

Do I need to do anything to the phones when we receive them?

The phones will be delivered & installed pre-configured so they should just plug in and work straight away!

What other advantages are there to using SiP Communicator?

Your calls will use the internet which lowered costs and means you can take the phone home with you and use your home internet to make work calls or you can use the softphone on your laptop or mobile.

Does my computer need to be switched on to use the phone?

Connecting your phone to your computer is one way that you can use our IP Phones. But whether you are using a PoE switch to connect to your phone to your LAN or a router with a power cable, you will not need your computer to be on to use your phone.

What happens to our current/old phones?

This purely depends on what you want to do with them. You can recycle them yourself or Datel can take them away.
