Are you paying too much for your telecoms services?

With so many changes in technology and telecoms merging with IT it can be difficult to understand if your services are appropriate for your business and are set at the right tariff. With IT and computing often having a higher profile in a business and telecoms being a reliable and fundamental requirement for communications, the on-going cost for provision and usage can often be glossed over.

Experience tells us that if you haven't looked at your bills and charges for a year or so, there is a strong possibility that you are paying up to 20% more than you need to. To get the best value for money, there are 5 keystones to help you keep those costs down.

The 5 keystones for reducing your telecoms services bills

Bill review

For any telecoms function provided by a service provider or carrier you should regularly review your invoices to ensure that they reflect the services that you use and tariffs that you are charged. One way of doing this is to keep a comparison of recent bills to make sure that there are no exceptional charges being added.

Contract review

Many contracts from telecoms companies offer value from long term commitments that may not reflect the impact of market forces in reducing costs over the same period. One of the most common issues is the automated renewal of contracts if a specific notice period is not provided, preventing clients from changing providers for an extended period.

Remove redundant equipment

Following the ceasing of a particular service of perhaps a reduction in capacity, services should be formally ceased with the supplier. However, it is extremely important to ensure that this requirement is reflected in the following bill. It is not uncommon for ceased items to ‘re-find’ their way onto the bill.

Verify tariffs

It is important that when checking your bill, you verify that you are paying the correct tariffs for your services. Exceptional changes to recurring or usage charges may enable you to extricate yourself from a long term commitment allowing you to reduce costs. Carry out simple call cost calculations and beware of tariffs that have call set-up or minimum fixed charges, these may compensate the supplier for lower usage charges.

Systems security and fraud

Analyse your bills for exceptional charges that may indicate miss-use or fraudulent activity. Ensure that your systems are properly configured to minimise the possibility and impact of any fraudulent attack and ensure that your users are only permitted access to necessary number ranges (i.e. bar access to international or premium rate calls).

Our Commitment

Our Commitment

Helping our customers with their communication systems and services over the years, we have seen the impact of projects that have started with the best intentions but have ended up sucking in more resources to get them completed and functioning as required. There is a multitude of reasons why this may happen; from technical issues to the project simply taking more time and effort than was anticipated. Working with clients and experiencing first-hand, the impact these issues can have in a business, has resulted in us developing a 'new' way to deliver customer support.

We have developed our business on the basis of bringing back genuine 'hands-on' support and really taking ownership of any problem, sticking with it until it is fixed and you are completely satisfied. We recognise that, as a business you have a wide choice of suppliers. We also believe that our skills and experience combined with a proven product set enables us to provide you with a service that is second to none.

Maintaining Quality of Service

quality of service

When we meet organisations planning to update their communication platforms, one of the largest perceived barriers to deploying Voice over IP (VoIP) services is inadequate call quality. Using the Public Internet to carry calls is a risky business, particularly if that conversation is business critical. Our selection of Hosted Telephony or SiP trunks do not use the public internet and deliver identical call quality (and often much better), that you experience with traditional telephone lines

If you are looking for cost effective, well supported and high quality communications services you can be sure that we can deliver.

Have a look at how you can benefit from SiP Trunking.

Implementation and Support

SIP Communicator™ is designed to be self-installable by the customer, requiring minimum support. With most of the equipment being managed off-site, in most circumstances we will detect any issues before you are aware of them. However, experience shows that clients often want their suppliers to deal with all of their configuration and change issues, so the Datel Telecom support team can provide as much or as little support required.

Whilst there is an option for clients to self-install, we usually recommend engaging us to deploy the end devices and to carry out a comprehensive service testing process to ensure that the system functions exactly how you wanted it to. At this point we can also tweak the original configuration to overcome or improve any specific issues or functionality.

Once the system is in and working, we can act as your telecoms department, carrying out any configurations changes, managing your bill and monitoring usage providing you with regular reporting and analysis to show how the service is being used and how much it is costing. We can provide recommendations and advice on how to get the best value-for-money.

VoIP (IP telephony) has created a new world where IT and traditional telephone services are merging. This often manifests itself in poor support. We are experienced in both the IT and telecoms worlds and take full responsibility for all services (especially where IT and telecoms crosses over), until an issue is resolved. As a Client of Datel Telecom, you will deal with one company for infrastructure, telephones and calls giving you the confidence that any problems you face will be dealt with swiftly and without the usual inter-supplier finger-pointing!

Devices

With a range of endpoints (mainly telephones), we can cover the full range of office communication requirements. We carry a broad range of telephone handsets that integrate fully with our SIP Communicator™ platform providing basic telephony to complex Busy Lamp Field (DSS keys) enabling groups to determine if colleagues are available.

In addition, we can support legacy analogue devices through the deployment of a Terminal Adaptor. So if you have just purchased a £500 conference phone, we can integrate this into the system. If you do not yet have such a device, these are also available but connected directly to SIP Communicator™.

Our current range of devices are detailed in this page but if you have a particular requirement that we have not shown, please contact us to discuss your requirements on +44 (0) 203 696 9661.
